ABOUT THE WRITER

An ordinary moment, followed all the way.

Shwan Hassan writes short, personal prose in Sorani Kurdish. His pieces begin with something small, a phone call with his daughters or a memory of his brother’s carpentry workshop, and follow it until it says something larger about work, belonging and growing older far from home.

New writing reaches more than two thousand followers, and readers answer him in the comments. This site gathers the books, the essays and the sources of inspiration in one place.

ئەو بەشەی لە دایکمدا دۆزیمەوە

What I found in my mother

His two daughters are both working, which he is glad of, yet it hurts to hear them say they are exhausted. The piece goes back to Kurdistan, where his elder brother, a respected carpenter, taught him that finding work begins with caring about the people you work beside.
